Evil Leafy is a recurring side character from the Battle for Dream Island webseries.

Selfship, Yumeship, F/O, whatever you wanna call it: I like Evil Leafy and would find kissing her enjoyable. It started off as a joke, as many things do; I liked Evil Leafy as a character, but that didn't evolve into a fictional romance until later. I don't remember why I initially chose her to be The One, but she was my first proper selfship experience. She has swapped back and forth with Lollipop for the place of my favorite BFDI character over the years, but right now she's definitely my #1, and not just because she's my F/O!
Very quickly after latching onto her, headcanons began to be written up. This all began far before the BFDIA revival in 2023, so we really only had three or so appearances to understand her personality (or lack thereof) and abilities. As a kid who grew up reading a lot of fantasy, the fact she originated from a forest that shared her title kinda instantly made me start throwing forest spirit ideas at her. Specifically, I declared her a dryad, a type of tree fairy, and made her the guardian of her Evil Forest. My main inspirations were probably Totoro and The House Above the Trees.
Although canon implies EL has a direct connection to the original Leafy, I found it more interesting if she WASN'T, and just happened to look like her. The moniker Evil Leafy was not chosen by her, but she kept it to keep up the unnerving, mysterious image that drives people away from her forest. I was able to express a lot of these ideas on my old, defunct Lollipop askblog, but never got far enough with it to truly get into the nitty gritty of her, her relationships with contestants, her values, etc. I'm a "not actually evil Evil Leafy" truther. All that is to say, my interpretation of Evil Leafy obviously differs greatly from canon. Despite this, whether it be my interp or canon, I'll kiss her anyway. She's cute!

I'd say that my main headcanon regarding EL besides the forest spirit stuff is that she's like an auntie to Grassy. While not his primary parental figure, she's still very important to him and very protective of him, too. Grassy has a charm to him that makes most people come to like him easily; whether this is supernatural or simply a knack for making friends remains to be seen. He has like 7 parental figures at this point, why couldn't he convince Evil Leafy too?
Instead of running, Grassy treated EL as he would anyone else: with curiosity and kindness. I need more EL-mentor-to-Grassy stuff, the dynamic just fascinates me.

Very wild to think I've loved her for over seven years as of writing. Perspective.

Naturally, I own the Evil Leafy plush. Ironically, I did not even know existed until like three months after it came out. No one told me...fake friends /j (to be fair, I had not been tuned into the fandom for years.)
She's been by my side almost constantly since she arrived later in mid-January, when I was finally able to afford her. My mom described her as looking like she "[hasn't] slept in a while." Favorite purchase in a long time. She's nice to hold while sleeping.
